How can one accommodate for sustainable growth of a tourist destination in Lofoten?
Hattvika Lodge is one of the leading tourist destinations in Lofoten, offering high quality experiences to their guests from all around the world. Since 2014 we have been working together with them to help them expand their business. First through a holistic masterplan and the rehabilitation of existing fisherman huts and buildings formerly used by the coastal industry, the establishment of a Sauna building and a Fishoil-Taste-Depot. In a next step we were envisioning possibilities for expansion within tight site boundaries. The addition of a lodge-building with restaurant, lounge, a small shop and conference facilities will help, making their guest`s stay a more remarkable and comfortable experience. The addition of small-scale cabins on a small ridge above the existing buildings will increase Hattvika Lodge`s capacity and help build the economical base for future expansion.
Our approach is based on the principles of minimal impact on the environment and the natural landscape formations, use of materials with low embodied energy such as CLT (cross laminated timber) and low energy consumption during operations.
